L.J. Kindred "Comes Out"
In an exclusive interview for the STAR  LJ Kindred 'Comes Out"

(Mon, AUG 22, 2011) "At my age (69), I need to play catch up. There  is one thing I have not done" says LJ "Joe" Kindred. He told the Star :  "It has never been on my Bucket List nor has it been a conscious goal. It is just one of those realizations that has lately crept into my mind."
Kindred said " I have never Come Out - I have never declared my preferences."

Acknowledging that there are perhaps hundreds (or more) who have wondered - so here it is


- "I am now and always have been a "Lady''s Man". I like women. "

Even though these events happened years ago he feels - his “coming out” must me memorialized - his story , like others, must me told.

First . . .
Kindred admitted that he first noticed his preference in the 6th grade."I was 13 years old.  Her name was Delores A. "
As with all great events in ones life it  started in his mind. It  was Valentines day 1954
"My mother drove the delivery/get a way car. Then it was candy on the doorstep, ring door bell and dash to the car for the getaway. Then a first date to easter sun rise service. I was on my way. "

Then , , ,
Kindred's next coming out recollection  was at age 17 - "the best affirmation that I am  dedicated to the fairer sex was   - Martha W.  "  . .
If there ever was any doubt . . .   she made me a true believer". All this experience with Martha D. was really in the  mind says Kindred.  He was in Anchorage Alaska while she way in San Antonio Texas -   a distance of some 3,100 miles.  
We become what we think about ?
"If this were true,  I would have been a girl by age. 18.  This was not a generic disposition. This was a free will decision to think about that San Antonio sweetheart . . . a lot"
 By the way, because of  Joe's preference for Martha  he was threatened with bodily harm  by R.B. , another suitor of hers.  "Wasn't that  a Hate Crime?  Can I sue someone?"


Never Looked Back
Two marriages (Beverly and Andrea)  and 7 children later and Kindred has never deviated.

Kindred asks " Now that I have come out,  will I be receiving  any special accolades, benefits,  or privileges? Will my story be on the evening news? Should I publish details of examples my affection?  Do partners need to be notified? Is anyone interested in my private life? "

Joe displayed a T shirt with a large printed message:  "I Came Out" . He asked " Would this be safe to wear in Texas"?

Coming  Out Celebration Planned
Kindred said he is planning some kind of "coming out"  celebration in the hill country of Texas.  Plans include a marching band, Smokey Joe BBQ,  and  rainbow snow cones. Contact Kindred for further information on the  big event.
